The Palestinian Drug Information and Call Center (PDICC) was established by the Palestinian Pharmacists Association in cooperation with Dimensions Healthcare.  The idea of establishing this center was in response to the need of the healthcare system in Palestine for a center that is specialized in drug information and research.

 

One of the main achievements of the center is developing the Palestinian National Drug Database (PNDD) and drug coding system based on extensive research of International drug databases and coding systems including the World Health Organization (WHO), Health Canada, the US Food and drug Administration (FDA), the European Medicines Agency, of Europe, and the Middle East and Africa (EMEA).  The PNDD contains drug information for more than 5000 drugs, which are revised and updated periodically by PDICC based on updates, alerts and warnings from national and international healthcare organizations.

 

PDICC also serves as a call center to support pharmacies, healthcare centers, and hospitals answer drugs-related questions.  Moreover, it is responsible for updating the database of AssistaPHARM, the Palestinian pharmacy management system that was developed by the center.

  

PDICC provides other services including drug publications and has a web page on: www.pdicc.org , which provides drug information for pharmacists, doctors, and other healthcare providers.

The Palestinian Pharmacists Association (PPA) was established in 1967. The work at Jerusalem center was frozen after the 1967 war until 1973 where it was revived by a group of active pharmacists. 

The main objectives of the PPA are: 

-       Protecting and organizing the interests of the profession.

-       Cooperating with the ministry of Health and all other related organizations towards raising the quality of service delivered to the community.

-       Protecting the rights and dignity of pharmacists.

-       Protecting the ethics of the profession.

-       Encouraging the scientific research and in particular in the medicinal field. 

-     Insuring a decent life to the pharmacists and their families when old or in need.
